This is the Story of Joe Meek

Joe Meek, one of the original early American Mountain Men, known as the ¨Merry Mountain Man,¨ is lost in the streets of Mexico City. He is a street entertainer, poet and talks to people from all walks of life; particularly the underworld. The Mountain Man interviews drug dealers, thieves, smugglers, cops, government officials, university professors, leaders of groups that are protesting, attorneys for the drug cartels, election officials, political party leaders, ex-presidents, taxi-cab drivers, and a host of others.

Being nearly 200 years old, Joe Meek brings a historical perspective as he has personally witnessed many Mexican revolutions and claims to have known many historical Mexican icons personally,

The interviews involve never before seen insights into the underbelly of the Worlds largest city. The interviews look at street crime, kidnapping, police corruption, drug cartel violence and tactics, poverty, the economy, education, and immigration issues.

Joe Meek’s analysis is a hilariously curious blend of historical perspective, poetry, investigative reporting and undercover work. El “Hombre de las Montañas,” Man of the Mountains, penetrates the workings of the criminal underworld of Mexico City, explains how the corruption and impunity threatens the fragile institutions of Mexico’s fledgling democracy. The root causes of poverty, corruption and violence are explored from the perspective of the 200 year old “Clown of the Mountains,” as Joe Meek steals the heart of the people in Mexico City.
